Day 1 : Arrive in Auckland – City of Sails
Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city and vibrant gateway to the North Island. On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your journey or explore the nearby Viaduct Harbour, local cafés, and boutiques. Soak in your first evening in this cosmopolitan harbor city.
Day 2 : Auckland Sightseeing – Harbour Views & Cultural Landmarks
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Auckland. Visit the Sky Tower, the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest structure, for panoramic views of the city and harbors. Continue to Auckland Domain, a lush park built around an extinct volcano, and explore the Auckland War Memorial Museum, showcasing M?ori and Pacific Island heritage. Later, take a scenic drive to the Tamaki Drive coastline and the upscale suburb of Mission Bay.
Day 3 : Auckland – Waitomo Caves – Rotorua
Depart Auckland this morning and journey through rolling green farmland to Waitomo, home to the famous Glowworm Caves. Enjoy a guided underground boat ride, gliding silently beneath thousands of twinkling glowworms in a magical subterranean world. Continue to Rotorua, the heart of M?ori culture and geothermal activity. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax amid the steaming landscapes.
Day 4 : Rotorua – Geothermal Wonders & M?ori Culture
Begin your day with a visit to Te Puia to witness the spectacular P?hutu Geyser, bubbling mud pools, and traditional M?ori carving and weaving schools. Continue to the Agrodome for a fun and informative New Zealand farm show featuring sheep shearing and sheepdog demonstrations. In the afternoon, visit Rainbow Springs Nature Park to see native flora and fauna including the elusive kiwi bird. In the evening, experience a traditional M?ori cultural performance followed by a delicious hangi dinner.
Day 5 : Rotorua – Taupo – Wellington
Depart Rotorua and drive south through the stunning volcanic plateau, stopping briefly at Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake, and the roaring Huka Falls. Continue through the rugged scenery of the Tongariro National Park, home to three active volcanoes. Arrive in Wellington, the charming capital city nestled between hills and harbor, by evening.
Day 6 : Wellington – Capital City Discovery
Today is dedicated to exploring Wellington. Visit Te Papa Tongarewa, the national museum of New Zealand, renowned for its interactive exhibits and M?ori artifacts. Take a scenic drive to Mount Victoria for breathtaking views over the city and harbor, and enjoy the quaint atmosphere of the Cuba Street District. You may also ride the historic Wellington Cable Car and stroll through the Botanic Gardens.
Day 7 : Wellington – Ferry to Picton – Kaikoura
After breakfast, board the Interislander Ferry for a scenic cruise across the Cook Strait to Picton, located in the stunning Marlborough Sounds. Continue your journey along the picturesque east coast to Kaikoura, a coastal town famed for its marine wildlife. Upon arrival, enjoy time at leisure or consider a sunset walk along the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway.
Day 8 : Kaikoura – Whale Watching – Christchurch
This morning, embark on a whale-watching cruise (weather permitting) to encounter the majestic sperm whales, dolphins, and fur seals that frequent these waters. Later, drive through the Canterbury Plains to reach Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 9 : Christchurch – Lake Tekapo – Mt. Cook – Queenstown
Travel through the scenic Mackenzie Country, stopping at Lake Tekapo to visit the charming Church of the Good Shepherd, set against a turquoise lake and alpine backdrop. Continue to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, home to New Zealand’s highest peak. Day 10 : Queenstown – Full-Day Milford Sound Excursion
Today, journey through the Fiordland National Park, with its awe-inspiring scenery of mountains, glaciers, and mirror-like lakes. Arrive at Milford Sound, one of the most iconic natural wonders of New Zealand. Enjoy a scenic cruise on the fiord, passing Mitre Peak, waterfalls, and possibly spotting seals and dolphins. Return to Queenstown in the evening after an unforgettable day.
Day 11 : Queenstown – Adventure or Leisure Day
Enjoy a free day in Queenstown to explore at your own pace. Thrill-seekers may opt for bungy jumping, jet boating, or skydiving, while others may prefer a wine tasting tour in the nearby Gibbston Valley. Take the Skyline Gondola for panoramic views or relax by the lakeside promenade with boutique shopping and cafés.
Day 12 : Queenstown – Haast Pass – Glacier Region
Depart Queenstown and journey through the Southern Alps, passing lush rainforests, waterfalls, and mountain passes via the scenic Haast Pass. Arrive in the Glacier Region, home to Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. Weather permitting, opt for a scenic helicopter ride with glacier landing or explore glacier walks and hot pools.
Day 13 : Glacier Region – Explore Ice & Wilderness
Today is free to explore the glaciers and surrounding wilderness. Choose from guided glacier walks, heli-hiking, or soaking in the Glacier Hot Pools. You may also visit Lake Matheson, famous for its mirror-like reflections of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. Enjoy the serene beauty of this unique alpine region.
Day 14 : Glacier Region – Greymouth – TranzAlpine Train – Christchurch
Depart for Greymouth, a historic town known for its gold mining past. From here, board the world-famous TranzAlpine Express, one of the world’s great scenic train journeys. Travel through the Southern Alps, Arthur’s Pass, and lush Canterbury plains before arriving back in Christchurch. Transfer to your hotel for your final night in New Zealand.
Day 15 : Departure from Christchurch
Your unforgettable journey through New Zealand comes to an end today. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Christchurch International Airport for your onward flight, filled with cherished memories of nature’s wonders, cultural treasures, and adventure across both islands.
