Day 01 : Arrival at Paro – Transfer to Thimphu (Approx. 55 km | 1.5–2 Hours)
Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our local representative. After immigration and baggage collection, begin your scenic drive to Thimphu, the charming capital city of Bhutan. En route, enjoy the pristine landscapes, traditional farmhouses, and peaceful mountain views. Upon arrival in Thimphu, check in to your hotel. If time permits, explore the local markets or visit Tashichho Dzong (from outside), a majestic fortress housing the throne room of His Majesty the King. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 02 : Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day guided tour of Thimphu’s cultural landmarks. Start with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a spiritual stupa built in memory of the Third King of Bhutan. Continue to the Buddha Dordenma, a massive 51-meter-high statue offering panoramic views of the valley. Visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusum (School of Traditional Arts), Folk Heritage Museum, and Textile Museum for insights into Bhutanese art and tradition. Later, see the Changangkha Lhakhang, a beautiful hilltop monastery, and the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s unique national animal. Evening free to stroll around the Craft Bazaar. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 03 : Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue via Dochu La Pass (Approx. 75 km | 3 Hours)
After breakfast, drive towards Punakha or Wangdue, ascending through pine forests to the stunning Dochu La Pass (3,088 meters), where on clear days you can enjoy views of the snow-capped Himalayas and the 108 memorial chortens. Descend into the warmer Punakha valley and visit the awe-inspiring Punakha Dzong, arguably the most beautiful dzong in Bhutan, strategically located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Later, enjoy a short hike through rice fields to the Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, dedicated to the eccentric saint Drukpa Kunley. Overnight stay in Punakha or Wangdue.
Day 04 : Excursion to Gangtey OR Punakha (Approx. 75 km | 3 Hours One Way for Gangtey)
Today you may choose between a full-day excursion to the serene Gangtey Valley or exploring more of Punakha.
Option 1: Gangtey Excursion – Drive to the glacial Phobjikha Valley, home of the endangered black-necked cranes (in winter). Visit the tranquil Gangtey Monastery, a major Nyingma institution, and take a peaceful nature walk through the valley's pristine beauty.
Option 2: Punakha Sightseeing – Visit the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, offering panoramic valley views and a tranquil atmosphere. You can also enjoy an optional rafting activity on the Mo Chu River (seasonal) or explore nearby villages. Return for overnight stay in Punakha or Wangdue.
Day 05 : Punakha/Wangdue – Paro (Approx. 130 km | 4.5–5 Hours)
After breakfast, drive to Paro, a beautiful valley town rich in history and spirituality. En route, enjoy scenic views, riverside settlements, and traditional Bhutanese countryside. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. Visit the iconic Rinpung Dzong (Fortress of the Heap of Jewels), with its striking architecture and vibrant monastic community. Walk across the traditional wooden cantilever bridge, and time permitting, visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Evening free to explore the local market. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 06 : Paro Sightseeing – Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)
Today after an early breakfast, embark on the highlight of your Bhutan journey – a guided hike to the legendary Taktsang Monastery, popularly known as Tiger’s Nest. Perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site is where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 8th century. The uphill hike (approx. 4–5 hours round trip) offers breathtaking views and a deeply spiritual experience. After descending, return to your hotel for lunch and relaxation. Later, you can opt for a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath (optional). Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 07 : Departure from Paro
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Depart with a heart full of beautiful memories, spiritual fulfillment, and a longing to return to the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
