Classic North East India - 9 Days

Day 01 : Arrival in Guwahati – Transfer to Tezpur (183 kms / approx. 4 hours)

Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to Tezpur, a picturesque town situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Known for its historical ruins, mythological tales, and scenic beauty, Tezpur offers a tranquil introduction to Assam. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, you can explore Agnigarh Hill, which offers panoramic views and legends from Hindu mythology, or visit Chitralekha Udyan, a charming park with lakes and heritage sculptures.

Day 02 : Excursion to Nameri National Park (37 kms / approx. 1 hour one way)

After a refreshing breakfast at the hotel, head out for a morning excursion to Nameri National Park, located at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. This beautiful park is a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers, known for its rich biodiversity and tranquil landscapes. Enjoy a guided jungle walk through dense forests and riverine grasslands, and if conditions permit, you can opt for soft river rafting on the Jia Bhoroli River. Return to Tezpur in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure or explore the local market for souvenirs.

Day 03 : Tezpur – Transfer to Kaziranga National Park (31 kms / approx. 1 hour)

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, then proceed to the world-famous Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. After checking into your wildlife resort, you can relax or visit the nearby Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park, a vibrant showcase of local flora, folk dance, and traditional crafts. In the evening, enjoy an optional tribal cultural show (subject to availability) before returning to your resort for the night.

Day 04 : Kaziranga – Transfer to Shillong (226 kms / approx. 5 hours)

Begin the day with an early breakfast at the resort, followed by an optional Jeep Safari in the central or western range of Kaziranga to spot wildlife such as elephants, swamp deer, wild buffalo, and numerous birds. After your safari experience, drive to Shillong, the charming capital of Meghalaya, known for its colonial architecture and pine-clad hills. En route, enjoy the scenic beauty of Meghalaya’s countryside. Upon arrival in Shillong, check into your hotel and relax. You may visit Police Bazaar in the evening for some shopping and local snacks.

Day 05 : Shillong – Transfer to Cherrapunjee (54 kms / approx. 2 hours)

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, drive to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on Earth, famous for its mist-covered valleys and cascading waterfalls. On the way, visit Elephant Falls, a scenic three-tier waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Once in Cherrapunjee, explore key attractions like Nohkalikai Falls (the tallest plunge waterfall in India), Seven Sisters Falls, and the Mawsmai Limestone Caves. Also visit Eco Park, which offers panoramic views of the plains of Bangladesh. Check into your hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening in nature.

Day 06 : Cherrapunjee – Return to Shillong (54 kms / approx. 2 hours)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, and if time and energy permit, you may take a short trek to visit places like Arwah Cave or Dainthlen Falls, which offer a more serene and less touristy experience. Begin your return journey to Shillong by midday. On arrival, check into your hotel and spend the evening relaxing or exploring the local cafés, churches, or scenic walking routes like Ward's Lake.

Day 07 : Excursion to Mawlynnong Village & Dawki (77 kms / approx. 3 hours one way)

After breakfast, set out on a full-day excursion to Mawlynnong, renowned as “Asia’s Cleanest Village.” Wander through its pristine paths, bamboo skywalk, and visit the unique Living Root Bridge, naturally grown and woven by the Khasi tribes. Then proceed to Dawki, a border town famous for the Umngot River, known for its crystal-clear waters. Enjoy a boat ride where the boat seems to float on air. Also, visit the Indo-Bangladesh border post. Return to Shillong in the evening and relax at your hotel.

Day 08 : Shillong Local Sightseeing

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a full day of exploring the highlights of Shillong. Visit the scenic Shillong Peak, the city’s highest point, offering panoramic views of the hills and city below. Continue to Don Bosco Museum, a multi-story center showcasing the art, culture, and heritage of Northeast India. Visit the serene Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Lady Hydari Park, and if time allows, drive out to the dramatic Laitlum Canyons for breathtaking views of deep gorges and rolling hills. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 09 : Shillong – Transfer to Guwahati (97 kms / approx. 3 hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, drive back to Guwahati, where your journey concludes. Depending on your departure time, you may visit the revered Kamakhya Temple, a major Shakti Peetha located atop Nilachal Hill, or explore local markets for souvenirs. You will then be dropped off at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, bringing your unforgettable Northeast adventure to a close.
