Classic Meghalaya - 6 Days

Day 01 : Arrival in Guwahati – Transfer to Shillong (99 kms / approx. 3 hours)

Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will be received by our representative and begin your scenic drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya and fondly known as the “Scotland of the East.” En route, stop at the Umiam Lake, a vast reservoir surrounded by pine-covered hills and one of the most beautiful spots in Meghalaya. Continue your drive to Shillong, nestled in the Khasi Hills. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, explore Police Bazaar, the vibrant local market, or enjoy a leisurely stroll in the cool mountain air.

Day 02 : Shillong – Transfer to Cherrapunjee (54 kms / approx. 2 hours)

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, then proceed to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on Earth, famed for its breathtaking landscapes and waterfalls. On the way, visit the Elephant Falls, a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall set amid dense greenery. As you approach Cherrapunjee, visit the iconic Nohkalikai Falls, India's tallest plunge waterfall, and the beautiful Seven Sisters Falls. Also explore the mystical Mawsmai Cave, a well-lit limestone cave with stalactites and stalagmites, and the Eco Park, offering sweeping views of the Sylhet Plains of Bangladesh. Check into your hotel in Cherrapunjee and enjoy a peaceful evening in the highlands.

Day 03 : Cherrapunjee – Return to Shillong (54 kms / approx. 2 hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, you may choose to explore more attractions in and around Cherrapunjee such as the Arwah Cave, less crowded and known for its fossils, or take a short trek to scenic locations like Dainthlen Falls. By afternoon, begin your return journey to Shillong. En route, enjoy the lush green hills, misty weather, and scenic valley views. On arrival in Shillong, check in to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. You may enjoy a local café or visit Ward’s Lake, a charming spot near the city center.

Day 04 : Excursion to Mawlynnong Village & Dawki(77 kms / approx. 3 hours one way)

After breakfast at the hotel, set out for a full-day excursion to Mawlynnong, declared the “Cleanest Village in Asia.” Stroll through its flower-laden lanes, visit the Living Root Bridge, and climb the Sky Walk for panoramic views of the village and the plains of Bangladesh. Continue to Dawki, a border town known for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Take a boat ride on the transparent river and visit the India-Bangladesh border checkpoint at Tamabil. After a day of scenic beauty and culture, return to Shillong by evening and relax at your hotel.

Day 05 : Shillong Local Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Shillong. Begin with a visit to Shillong Peak, the highest point in Meghalaya, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and surrounding hills. Continue to the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, a fascinating museum that showcases the heritage of Northeast India's tribal communities. Visit Lady Hydari Park, a manicured garden with a mini zoo, and the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, an architectural gem. End the day with a visit to Laitlum Canyons, a majestic and less-crowded viewpoint that captures the true essence of Meghalaya's natural beauty. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 06 : Shillong – Transfer to Guwahati (97 kms / approx. 3 hours)

Enjoy your final breakfast at the hotel, then check out and drive back to Guwahati, the largest city in Assam. Depending on your schedule, you may choose to visit the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Shakti Peethas, situated atop Nilachal Hill. After sightseeing, proceed to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, concluding your memorable Meghalaya holiday with stunning landscapes, tribal culture, and tranquil experiences.
