Classic Arunachal Pradesh - 9 Days

Day 01 : Guwahati – Transfer to Bhalukpong (255 kms / approx. 6 hours)

Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will be welcomed by our tour representative. Embark on a picturesque journey to Bhalukpong, the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh, nestled along the Assam-Arunachal border. En route, enjoy views of lush forests, river valleys, and traditional Assamese villages. Upon reaching Bhalukpong, complete the Inner Line Permit formalities for Arunachal Pradesh. Check into your hotel and relax for the evening by the serene Kameng River or visit the Tipi Orchidarium, which houses over 500 species of orchids.

Day 02 : Bhalukpong – Transfer to Dirang (140 kms / approx. 7 hours)

After a refreshing breakfast at the hotel, begin your uphill drive towards Dirang, a beautiful valley town known for its scenic landscape and pleasant climate. The road passes through dense forests, tribal settlements, and misty hills. En route, stop at Tipi Orchid Research Centre if not visited the day before. On reaching Dirang, visit the ancient Dirang Dzong, a 17th-century fort still inhabited by the Monpa tribe, and the Hot Water Springs, believed to have medicinal properties. Later, check into your hotel and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day 03 : Dirang – Transfer to Tawang (130 kms / approx. 7 hours)

Begin the day with breakfast at your hotel, then set out for the stunning journey to Tawang. Today’s drive is one of the highlights of the tour, offering spectacular Himalayan views. En route, cross the legendary Sela Pass (13,700 ft), often covered in snow and surrounded by alpine lakes like Sela Lake. Pay tribute at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial, dedicated to Rifleman Jaswant Singh, a hero of the 1962 Indo-China war. After descending from the pass, arrive in Tawang and check in to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 04 : Tawang Local Sightseeing

After a wholesome breakfast at the hotel, begin exploring the rich culture and spirituality of Tawang. Start with a visit to the iconic Tawang Monastery, the largest in India and second-largest in the world, offering panoramic views of the valley and deep insight into Mahayana Buddhism. Visit the Tawang War Memorial, which honors the brave soldiers of the 1962 war. Later, explore the Craft Centre and Emporium, showcasing local handlooms and crafts. Also visit Urgeling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 05 : Excursion To High Altitude Lakes & Bumla Pass(Subject to permit & weather)

After early breakfast at the hotel, proceed on a thrilling day excursion to Bumla Pass (15,200 ft), located near the Indo-China border. This high-altitude pass offers a surreal landscape of snow-covered terrain and is a place of patriotic pride. On the way back, visit the stunning Sangetsar Lake (Madhuri Lake), formed by an earthquake and famous for its serene setting and dead tree trunks rising from the water. Also, stop at Pangateng Tso (PT Tso), another high-altitude lake surrounded by mountains. Return to Tawang by evening for a restful night at the hotel.

Day 06 : Tawang – Transfer to Bomdila (170 kms / approx. 8 hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your return journey to Bomdila, retracing the scenic route through Sela Pass and Dirang. Enjoy photo stops or short breaks at points missed earlier. Upon arrival in Bomdila, check into your hotel. In the afternoon, explore the Bomdila Monastery, known for its peaceful ambiance and views of the surrounding hills, and visit the local craft centers. Relax in the cool mountain air and enjoy your overnight stay.

Day 07 : Bomdila – Transfer to Guwahati (355 kms / approx. 11 hours)

Enjoy your final breakfast in the hills, then set off for Guwahati, the bustling gateway to Northeast India. The journey descends from the highlands to the plains of Assam, offering scenic beauty all along. Arrive in Guwahati by evening and check in to your hotel. Take some time to rest or explore the local markets nearby.

Day 08 : Guwahati Local Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Guwahati. Visit the revered Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India, located atop Nilachal Hill. Later, explore the Umananda Temple on the world’s smallest inhabited river island in the Brahmaputra, accessible by ferry. Continue to Navagraha Temple, the Assam State Museum, and take an optional sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River (subject to availability and weather). Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 09 : Departure from Guwahati

After breakfast, check out from your hotel. You will be transferred to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey, bringing an end to a memorable adventure through the cultural and natural wonders of Northeast India.
